The #NewNigeria we want to build can only be achieved when we all echo our voice and demand for it.
Last weekend, we held the #Lagos edition of the Youth Conversation for a New Nigeria (YANN) Consultative Town Hall Meeting where we engaged and document the opinions of young Nigerians concerning some critical challenges the country is currently facing and also ask their ideas on the best possible ways these challenges can be solved.
Youths made up over 60% of the Nigerian population and we believe that no decision should be done without the voice of the Youth. Young Nigerians are now demanding accountability from their leaders and want the government to listen to their ideas and opinions of the type of Nigeria they want.
The Youth Conversation for a New Nigeria is convened as a series of youth-led, youth-focused consultations, community town halls sessions and focus group discussions designed to engage Nigerian youths, create awareness and highlight policy issues of importance from communities to campuses. We seek to canvass ideas, thoughts and opinions from Nigerian youths from campuses to communities and advance “our New Nigeria.” We ask critical questions and explore honest answers about the future of Nigeria and our picture in Nigeria’s future and beyond. The findings and opinions from these national consultations will be compiled into a publication titled: A Nigeria for the Many: A manifesto for Nigeria we desire.
